Each placement varies and will typically involve physio students working independently in a single clinic room with the support of a supervisor and experienced Ascenti physiotherapists nearby.
Ascenti placement students will treat a varied caseload of patients referred by NHS services for the treatment of MSK conditions, with the potential to shadow other service elements such as exercise classes and chronic pain clinics.
Students will also work with our industry-leading digital physiotherapy tools, for example typing up notes on an advanced patient workflow system and prescribing exercises using our patient app - PhysioNow.
Physiotherapy student from the University of Lincoln, Gameli, talks about his experience with Ascenti: “The placement exceeded my expectations and I have been really impressed with the level of knowledge that the physiotherapists have.
“I enjoyed the varied caseload and the different clinic locations we got to work in. Some highlights for me included being able to work inside a gym, treating an international bench press competitor and learning more about different conditions.”
Alison Day, Ascenti’s Clinical Development Lead, added: “If you are passionate about musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapy, you will appreciate developing your MSK knowledge on one of our placements.
“We’re offering students the opportunity to gain perspective about what it’s like to work outside of the public sector and hospital settings, but with the familiarity of seeing an NHS MSK patient caseload.
“Our placements are a great opportunity for physiotherapy students looking to build on existing MSK experience already gained through their university directed MSK placement and will suit those who are looking to work in a more autonomous setting.”
Ascenti are welcoming all physiotherapy student placement applications and will assess suitability based on study level, knowledge, competencies and the opportunities we have available.
