About the role

We're looking for a Clinical Performance Lead to join our Clinical Quality & Governance team on a permanent, full-time basis. This is a pivotal leadership role within our Ascenti Physio Business Unit, responsible for driving consistently high standards of clinical quality across our national physiotherapy network of 300+ professionals.

You'll operate as a role model and key figurehead to our physiotherapy community, fostering a positive culture with an emphasis on continuous improvement and developing high-performing, engaged physiotherapists. Working closely with the Clinical Director, you'll empower our team of Physiotherapy Development Leads (PDLs) to maximize clinical capability while strategically forming systems that nurture clinical excellence.

What you'll be doing

As a Clinical Performance Lead, you'll:

  • Lead and develop the PDL group towards a shared vision using leadership theory and practice.
  • Design and implement frameworks for clinical development and high standards of practice across the network.
  • Create and deliver face-to-face training events and online learning modules for physiotherapists and PDLs.
  • Build an educational curriculum that enables high-performing physiotherapists aligned to our clinical philosophy.
  • Implement clinical performance frameworks that provide clear, transparent feedback to influence performance.
  • Lead the onboarding team to ensure new joiners reach full competency quickly and effectively.
  • Use data sets to inform business strategy and work with operational teams on responsive planning.
  • Coach and influence PDLs to align with Ascenti's clinical performance philosophies.
  • Stay current with learning and development research to utilize innovative educational resources.
  • Connect clinical, operational, and commercial demands to create a learning culture that meets business needs.

Knowledge, experience, and qualifications

  • Expert clinical leadership skills.
  • Adherence to the standards of physiotherapy practice and code of conduct outlined by the HCPC and CSP.
  • Excellent IT skills and computer literacy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Awareness of ethical obligations in physiotherapy, with a strong sense of professional integrity.
  • Understanding of safety and legal obligations, including patient rights and consent.
  • Practical or theoretical expert level knowledge in Learning & Development.
  • Extensive post-registration experience working at a senior level within MSK Physiotherapy.
  • Experience of leading, supervising, training, and mentoring MSK practitioners.
  • Track record of strong leadership skills and outstanding communication with all colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Experience using modern IT systems or software to support your practice e.g. videocall technology or electronic note taking.
  • Experience of evaluating own practice and a commitment to continued learning and development.
  • Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) recognised degree or diploma in Physiotherapy of 2:1 or above.
  • Full HCPC membership is essential and must be maintained throughout employment.
